My work aims to demonstrate diverse styles of color, texture, form, and rhythm while creating a composition of subtle and explosive energy into a philosophy of balance. The use of mixed media combined with numerous coats of rich and luminous earthy acrylic pigment aims to create an irregularly rough surface into a harmonious suggestive design. The concept is a composition of Realism and abstract art into various fields of 2-D and 3-D design. It aims to create an enigmatic world of emerging soothing images leaving its movement and figures to the viewer's imagination. Creating enigmatic vision shapes involves crafting ambiguous, layered forms that invite multiple interpretations. By blending soft, translucent edges with sharper, defined lines, these shapes hover between clarity and mystery, often playing with light and shadow to suggest depth and movement. Incorporating negative space and subtle references to archetypal symbols, like spirals or eyes, adds to their elusive quality, encouraging viewers to engage their imagination and uncover hidden meanings within the composition. The result is a visual language that feels both familiar and mysterious, evoking curiosity and emotional resonance.
My work is rooted in the cultural landscape of the American Southwest, where the Arizona desert’s earth tones, dramatic light, and vast horizons shape my palette and sense of space. This foundation is enriched by European traditions—particularly the atmospheric sensitivity of Impressionism and its attention to shifting light and color, alongside the symbolic depth and expressive qualities of Romanticism and Surrealism. The interplay of Native American, Mexican, contemporary Western, and European influences creates a layered dialogue that honors visual storytelling while engaging broader art historical lineages. This fusion reflects the psychological landscapes I explore, where personal and collective unconscious intersect, forming a visual language that connects individual experience with shared human heritage.
I have always admired and been committed to the beauty of the arts and its creation. Art allows us to see and feel our world differently. Its importance is its power to express what words can't do. With a doctorate and a background as a former Art Educator and now as a practicing Psychotherapist, my inspiration lies in creating psychological interpretation. My approach bridges the therapeutic and creative realms, drawing from depth psychology, Jungian and Adlerian symbolism, and the transformative power of artmaking as both personal inquiry and cultural expression. It's about connecting to our world through emotion, meaning, and shared human experience; making the invisible visible and the internal external.
My art has been exhibited and awarded in solo and group shows in Arizona and internationally. I am committed to continue painting regularly while exploring new ideas, emotions, and themes, furthermore, experimenting with various techniques and materials to expand the depth and range of my work.
